Administrative or Biographical History The church was founded in 1878 by immigrants from Ryssby parish in Småland, Sweden, who had begun to settling the area of Township 2 North, 70 West in Boulder County in 1869. One of the leaders among these early settlers were Sven Johan Johnson, an agent for the White Star Steamship Line. Others included Sven's younger brother Bengt Johnson, Aaron Peterson, Sven Magni, Peter Johnson, Lars. J. Larson, and Samuel Gummeson. The first pastor to serve the church was Frederick Lagerman and he arrived in the community in 1877. The congregation was founded in January of 1878, but it was not until 1882 the church had its building. Due to lack of finances, the church merged with Elim Lutheran Church in Longmont in 1914.
