This photograph shows wooden stands with a crowd sitting on them. Four people are the focus of the photograph. From left to right is Dr. Nanna Svartz, Per Sandberg, Einar Sjögren, and Dr. Gunnar Granberg of the Official Swedish Delegation [identification of the members sitting on the bench is based from photographs in, The American Swedish Monthly: Swedish Pioneer Centennial 1848-1948, a periodical released in June of 1948 describing much of the events and important members involved with the Swedish Pioneer Centennial Celebration.] Dr. Nanna Svartz was a professor of medicine at the Carolinian Institute, head physician of the Carolinian Hospital, and member of the Official Swedish Delegation. Per Sandberg was associated with the adult education movement and a member of the Official Swedish Delegation. Einar Sjögren was head of the Swedish Farm Association and a member of the Official Swedish Delegation. Dr. Gunnar Granberg was the head of the Swedish Institute for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and a member of the Official Swedish Delegation. The back of the photograph states, "Rockford [Ill.] 1948."
According to The American Swedish Monthly: Swedish Pioneer Centennial 1848-1948 [June 1948 issue found in the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research stacks at: Immig. f E 184 .S23 A7 24251707] "on the morning of June 8 automobiles will bring the party to Rockford, where at 1:00 o'clock a luncheon will be given by the Rockford Committee. At 6:45 p.m. the Swedish Pioneer Centennial Parade will begin its march to the Rockford Stadium where a festival will be held."
