Description This photograph shows a ceremony occurring. There are crowds standing listening to a speaker. The speaker is standing on a stage that is decorated with an American flag and Swedish flag as well as patriotic banners. There is a group of men in singing uniforms and caps. Members of the press stand in front of the stage. Prince Bertil of Sweden can be identified as one of the people standing on the stage. The man standing to Prince Bertil's right may be Carl Hjalmar Lundquist. Carl Hjalmar Lundquist was a Chicago attorney and secretary of the Chicago Pioneer Centennial Committee. Gösta Oldenburg may be on the far right standing closest to the Swedish flag. Gösta Oldenburg was representing Sweden in the U.S. and helped with preparation of the events. The woman on the farthest corner of the stage may be Dr. Nanna Svarts. Dr. Nanna Svartz was a professor of medicine at the Carolinian Institute, head physician of the Carolinian Hospital, and member of the Official Swedish Delegation.
