Theodore Sohlberg was a member of the national advisory board and chairman of the Delta County, Michigan Committee for Escanaba and Gladstone celebrations. A man, possibly Per Sandberg, can be seen sitting in the crowd. There are also patriotic banners hung in the background of the photograph.
According to The American Swedish Monthly: Swedish Pioneer Centennial 1848-1948 [June 1948 issue found in the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research stacks at: Immig. f E 184 .S23 A7 24251707] "on the morning of June 15, members of the delegation will go by air to Escanaba, Michigan, where the Swedes of the Upper Michigan Peninsula will celebrate the Centennial. After an informal lunch at the Ludington Hotel and visiting delegates will view a parade and a festival will be held at the stadium. A dinner is also scheduled for the evening."
